Christmas Tree Decorating November 21, 2007
The Governor and First Lady, Lori Otter, take time out from their schedules on the day before Thanksgiving to decorate the
state Christmas tree. The 60 foot tall spruce tree is located at the southeast corner of the Borah property, on the
corner of Capitol and Bannock. This is a live tree, and an extra effort will be implemented to protect it.

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter and the First Lady prepare to place lights on the 2007 State Christmas tree. The tree will be lit with
10,000 to 12,000 LED (light emitting diode) lights. In 2005, the State began lighting the State Christmas Tree using LED’s.
Prior to 2005, C-7 style incandescent bulbs were used and the electric cost was about $19 per day.
Using LED’s the cost is less than $1 per day.
